The name RCA cable comes from the Radio Corporation of America because this company first used the cable to connect the amplifiers to phonographs back in the 1940s. There are two most common types of RCA cables available; one is a composite video and another one is the component.

The high-end camcorders have three separate RCA jacks so that the signals come and go from the devices have separate channels for video and audio and bring out the high-quality result.

There are several factors that affect the quality of the RCA cable.

Material: The connectors of the RCA cables are the most important part. There are gold, silver, and copper connectors available for it. The gold connectors are the most expensive because they work better than the silver and the copper in respect of the prevention of oxidation. If you want to have the best electrical connectivity, then silver connectors are the best. Apart from these three, you can also find, nickel, zinc, and tin connectors as well.

Length of the cable: The cable length can hamper the signal quality of the transmission. To avoid the negative effect, you need to measure the length that you need to cover and buy the cable of that particular length only. This way, you will be assured of the best quality signal both for audio and video transmission.

Shielding: Always try to rca cable  that has robust shielding because it will deliver a better signal than the un-shielded one.

Other End of the cable: You need to match the material that has been used for both the end of the cable. You should not match the silver with gold or tin with gold as it may cause the problem of electrolytic reaction.
