Stay Away From Free Privacy

So you have something on your computer that you do not want others to see. Maybe you visited a website that your significant other or your boss would not approve of. Or maybe you are going to get rid of your computer, and there are files that you want to make sure do not get into the hands of other people. You have heard that you can't just delete files or clear out your internet history, because this doesn't really get rid of those files. So you go on the internet and you do a search on your favorite search engine for "free privacy software." This is a really bad idea.

Deleted files don't really get deleted, as in thrown away and never to be seen again. In reality, when you delete a file, you just open up that particular space for overwriting. When you save new files, the chances are the space that will be used will be that of the deleted files especially if your hard drive is starting to fill up. Of course, do you want to take a chance that the space is not used or written over, which means the deleted file remains in your PC?

Where Do I Get One?

One option is to go to a knowledgeable lawyer. It's their business to help keep you out of trouble. But they can be a bit pricey.

Another option is to purchase a guide to internet legal compliance. Such guides are available online and are generally quite good. They won't provide you tailored legal advice and may not exactly address your particular situation, but it's far better to get a 98 percent solution to the problem than to expose yourself to every possible privacy problem that any lawyer can dream up.

There are also some free resources available online such as a free proxy server. Offerings change frequently, so if you want to find out about free privacy policy options you should do your own search.
