Top 5 Common Email Issues and How to Solve Them

Email has become a most important way to written communication in this word of information and technology.  Any little issue with it can affect our daily work enormously. You must have heard people shouting, “oh, my yahoo mail not working or Hotmail not working."So that you don't shout in such situation and can solve it in minutes, we have come up with solutions to five basic email issues you face most frequently.

1.    When You Experience No Response or Error Contacting Mail Server

On many occasions, you would have experienced that your email suddenly stops sending and receiving mails and then suddenly starts. In order to detect and fix the issue, you can first check your internet access. In case, you find that your internet is working well then you can try using webmail for accessing your account. If that works you can quit your browser and then re-launch your email. In case this also does not work, then there is every possibility that the problems is with the server. In case, you have an issue with Hotmail, Yahoo mail or Gmail you have no option but to wait.

2.    Getting Undelivered Mail Notifications

This is quite possible and indicates that your email account has been used by someone or in other words it has been compromised. To fix this issue you can log into the control panel and change the password for your email account. The email account can be compromised due to weak or easy passwords or by opening a suspicious mail or even by accessing a corrupt website. Hence, it is advisable to keep changing your passwords and use special characters and numbers in it. But other common reason for delivery failure is the typo error that occurs while sending emails to multiple receipts. You can cross check if the commas between two recipients are properly entered.

3.    Wrong Username and Password

Many times even if you put correct username and password your email does not sign-in. This is because sometimes you are required to write full email address and sometimes even initial part i.e. letters before @ can be entered. You can check by entering both the formats while signing in. If this is not the case, then you can check the typos and case. If you are confused with the correct password then you can follow the password retrieval process which is available in case of all the service providers be it Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo.

4.    Mail Showing Sent But Not Delivered and Delivery Failure Message Not Received

This is also experienced sometimes when your email is showing successfully sent but the recipient complains about its non-delivery. In such scenario, you have to check if the email has not been caught by anti-spam filter software. In some cases, the connection between server and recipient’s system fails. This could be a temporary issue and the server makes a reattempt after approx 24 to 72 hours once the connection is established.

5.    Issue in Sending Too Many Attachments

It is always recommended not to attach too many files in a single email. This not only takes more time but more often the attachment fails after a long wait. It is always better to send attachments in parts which are faster and easier. A large attachment can be sent but it takes a long time to the server to get it attached.
