Chesterfield cigarette - the brand's history
Chesterfield cigarette brand was named after a county in Virginia. "Chester" was launched in 1873 by Drummond Tobacco. After 1898 the company was absorbed by American Tobacco, and in 1911 after the company collapse, Chesterfield brand was taken by Liggett & Myers company. During this time the brand has passed through drastic changes - was changed the tobacco blend, cigarette package and advertising concept. These steps helped Chesterfield brand jerk to the top and become for a long time one of the most popular cigarette brands in America.
