Things To Do In Ontario This Weekend

Ontario, Canada has many enjoyable options in terms of activities, however some aren't always available for use. Some activities are only seasonal, or only occur at certain days of the week, which means their limited in terms of experiencing them. Either way, if you find an activity that only occurs for a limited time, chances are that activity will occur within the weekend, covering the days of July 4th, 5th, and 6th, depending on the location of the activities.

 July 4th

This day is famous in America, as this day marks the anniversary when America won its independence from Great Britain, however this day is just another day in Canada. Canada’s independence day occurs July 1st, with this day marking their unification of three colonies that would later be called Canada. This year, 2014, July 4th falls on a friday, with friday being a precursor for the weekend. Even the day doesn't mark Canada’s independence, on both these dates around 10pm at night, there's a large fireworks display that marks both the countries independence achievements. This display happens in most of Canada, with the largest display occurring in Niagara Falls, that features a impressive bout of firework launches. Because of these displays, most other activities like theaters and concerts are put on hold until the next day, or past the weekend.

 July 5th

This day is busy in terms of options available, as there are many theatre and performance shows available on this date. At the infamous Stratford Festival, which works as a feeding ground for many tourists to watch quality plays, the festival features many classic plays, revamped with a more modern order. The festival is located in Southwest Ontario, although it is a popular attraction for tourists across the world. This weekend, specifically on Saturday July 5th, the theater will show off popular classic plays like Midsummer Nights Dream, and Alice Looking Through Glass, which have both received a lot of positive feedback. There are many other shows available on this day, located on the website of the theater.

 July 6th

This sunday, July 6th, their is a very cheap carousel park that is very fun in terms of enjoyment. How cheap, you may ask? Only 5 cents! Thats right a nickel! This place, called Lakeside Park, is open to the public, with July 6th the hours being 10 am to 9pm. If you have some pocket change, better yet if you bring children along, you can have a very worthwhile experience.
